Nigerian striker Victor Mbaoma has turned down a move to Rwanda's Police FC, opting instead to join Kenyan Premier League side Tusker FC.

Mbaoma, who previously played for APR FC, was one of the standout performers in the 2023/24 Rwanda Premier League season, finishing as the joint top scorer with 15 goals alongside compatriot Ani Elijah, then at Bugesera FC.

However, the following campaign was disrupted by injuries, which limited his playing time. He eventually fell out of favour under APR head coach Darko Novic and was released by the army side at the end of the season.

The 29-year-old returned to Nigeria, where he signed for Remo Stars FC and quickly rediscovered his scoring touch. He finished as the top scorer in the 2025/26 Nigeria Premier Football League with 14 goals. Despite his impressive individual campaign, Remo Stars were relegated to the second division just a season after winning the league title in 2024/25.

His return to form attracted interest from several clubs, including Police FC, who were looking to bolster their attack following the departure of a number of forwards, among them Ani Elijah.

Negotiations between Police FC and Mbaoma had reportedly reached an advanced stage before the striker decided against a return to Rwanda, choosing instead to sign a one-year contract with Tusker FC.

He is expected to arrive in Nairobi next week to complete the formalities of his move and begin preparations for the new season.

Although they missed out on Mbaoma, Police FC have moved swiftly to strengthen their squad, signing Malian strikers Keffa Tangara and Moussa Limane on two-year contracts ahead of the 2026/27 campaign.
