Gisagara Volleyball Club have suspended players Ronald Muvara and Cedrick Ngaboyintwari for 90 days over misconduct that allegedly disrupted the team during the ongoing Genocide Memorial Tournament at Petit Stade in Kigali.
In a statement released on Saturday evening, the club confirmed the suspension of both players, citing behaviour that negatively impacted the team.
"The disciplinary action follows unacceptable behaviour that adversely affected the team,” the statement reads.
The club reiterated its commitment to maintaining discipline and professionalism.
"Gisagara VC maintains a zero-tolerance policy on misconduct and remains firmly committed to upholding the highest standards of discipline and professionalism.”
The disciplinary action comes after a major setback for Gisagara VC, now under the guidance of newly appointed head coach Marchal Kwizera. The team failed to arrive on time for their quarterfinal clash against Police VC and consequently forfeited the match, granting Police VC an automatic place in the semifinals.
The incident raised questions about discipline and team management within the club, prompting action against the players deemed responsible.
