Hosts APR VC were knocked out of the 2026 African Men’s Club Championship after a four-set defeat to Morocco’s Fath Union Sport (FUS) in the Round of 16, losing 23-25, 18-25, 25-22, 21-25 at BK Arena on Wednesday night.

The result made APR the first Rwandan side to exit the tournament, while Rwanda Energy Group (REG), Police VC, and Kepler VC all progressed to the quarterfinals.

APR made a bright start in the opening set, but FUS quickly fought back to level the contest. With the score tied at 15-15, APR regained momentum through Samuel Niyosibuzo to open a 21-16 lead. However, a timeout proved pivotal for the Moroccans, as Bracko Rok produced a decisive serving run to overturn the deficit and seal the set 25-23.

In the second set, APR head coach Sammy Mulinge made tactical changes, introducing Vincent Mbonigaba to bolster the attack. Despite the adjustment, FUS maintained control, with Moses Gana, Mourad Bahid, and Rok leading a dominant offensive display to claim the set 25-18.

APR responded strongly in the third set, showing improved coordination and attacking efficiency. Niyosibuzo once again stepped up, inspiring the army side to a 25-22 win and briefly reviving their hopes.

However, FUS regained composure in the fourth set, managing the key moments better to close it out 25-21 and book their place in the quarterfinals.

Elsewhere, REG cruised into the last eight with a straight-sets victory over Uganda’s Sport-S (25-18, 25-17, 25-20). Police VC also advanced comfortably, defeating Nigeria Customs Service 3-0 (25-21, 25-16, 25-21).

Kepler VC joined them after a hard-fought 3-1 win over General Service Unit (23-25, 25-23, 28-25, 25-19), becoming the third Rwandan side to reach the quarterfinals.

Defending champions Al Ahly continued their unbeaten run with a straight-sets win over Kalibi Sporting Club (25-14, 25-19, 25-19). Port Autonome de Douala also advanced emphatically, sweeping Equity Bank (25-7, 25-16, 25-13), and will face Petrojet SC, who defeated Ghana Army 3-1 (25-19, 23-25, 25-15, 25-19).
