Recently, the head coach of Rwandan national football team was dismissed.  However, sports administrators want to hire a foreign coach. We should ask this question: What type of resource management is that? Eric Nshimiyimana was the assistant coach, and now is doing an outstanding job in the Kenyan edition of the CECAFA tournament.

Instead of paying thousands of dollars to a foreign coach, why doesn’t Rwanda use a few thousand dollars to train young coaches such as Eric, who are willing to contribute to their country’s development?

Those foreign coaches want to live like kings, they do not want to be criticized, they want to spend money like it is theirs and when they get negative outcomes they start to blame our players or our leadership.

Does it make sense that bringing a foreign coach, who will charge us a lot of money and at the end fail to meet our expectation?

I know we need competitive people, but we need to take into consideration our people first. Our own people will take us where we need to go, no one else.

I am convinced that we should not put all our faith in foreigners but should instead get ideas from them, as we use them to make ourselves successful.
