Belgian rider Duarte Marivoet, who plays for UAE Team Emirates Gen Z, won Stage Five of Tour du Rwanda, completing the 144km route from Rusizi to Huye in four hours, five minutes, and one second on Friday, February 28.
Despite finishing outside the top positions in Stage five, Frenchman Joris Delbove (TotalEnergies) retained the yellow jersey. He maintains a two-second lead over teammate Fabien Doubey, a gap established in Stage 4 from Rubavu to Karongi.
UAE Team Emirates Gen Z achieved a historic victory, marking their first stage win in the 17th edition of the Tour du Rwanda. This stage, which finished in Huye, was previously won by Eritrean Mulu Hailemichael in 2020.
The 2025 Tour du Rwanda has seen strong performances from TotalEnergies, Israel-Premier Tech, and now UAE Team Emirates Gen Z.
Rwandan rider Didier Munyaneza continues to lead the sprints classification, while Vainqueur Masengesho remains the highest-placed Rwandan in the general classification.
Tour du Rwanda 2025 continues on Saturday, March 1 with Stage Six, a 131.5km route from Nyanza to Canal Olympia along the Bugesera road.
