The new trend for movies theatres is emerging in Rwanda like wind in the desert. Gone are days of  the ‘Remote Control War’ in homes.

The new VIP movie theatre, Vision Cinema, will officially open its doors to the public on Friday August 21.

Located in Sports View Hotel, opposite Amahoro National Stadium, in Remera, the theatre has a seating capacity of 1000 people.

"This is definitely going to be a booming movie theatre in town,” Willy Ndahiro, the CEO and director for Vision Cinema said. "

The first thing you’re going to notice is that we shall be screening the  latest movies,” he added.

The grand launch, on Friday at 6:30pm will be entertained by famous local musicians, including reggae star Natty Dread, his son Nestaman, Sgt. Robert, MC Fab, Big Dom, Dian, Aline Gahongayire and Mani Martin.

Tickets to the launch will be sold at Rfw5000 for a couple and Rfw3000 for individuals.

Movie-lovers will have a chance to catch "Obsessed”, a romantic movie starring Beyonce and Idris Elba.

Vision Cinema will open thrice a week: Monday, Wednesday and Friday, and operate twice a day, from 6:30pm until 10:00pm. Popcorn and Coca-Cola drinks will be provided, to help movie-goers enjoy their stay at the cinema, while catching up with their favourite movies.

The new cinema opens only a few months after another modern cinema, Cine Star cinema, in Nyamirambo had been launched.

Ndahiro, a.k.a Paul, is a local actor, famous for his lead roles in the movie series "Ikigeragezo cy’ubuzima”, literally translated to mean, (Colossal trial).
