Fashion flops that should be avoided in 2014

If only the fireworks, New Year’s parties, resolutions and hugs at the stroke of midnight could change us and leave us different beings, the world would be a better place. It only leaves us the same old people with a desire to be better. At the beginning of the year, we resolve to up our fashion sense and look sharper, at times we achieve it and at times it lasts only for the first week.

Here are some of the wacky trends that should stay in 2013.Tight coloured pantsIt is becoming harder to tell between men and women especially with tight pants. Grown men in the past year competed against women in seeing who can wear the most figure hugging outfits. Men gave women a run for their money. In 2014 men should leave the title to women, it is uncomfortable seeing men in coloured clingy pants. But this is not a license to have excessively baggy pants either. Those men who wear tight tops should also consider going slow.African print trousers for menStill on pants, there is a trend whose genesis is still yet to be established; men’s trousers made from African print. As much as it is artistic, it is distracting, what happed to the good old plain trousers?Numerous braceletsWhoever said that wearing numerous bracelets for men on each arm makes them look artistic deeply lied. It doesn’t, it makes you look like an attention seeker. Of course some will say that each of the bracelets represents a destination they have been to in the world but whey not wear one at a time?Shabby dreadlocksAs cool as dreadlocks may be, they can be a turn off when not well styled and maintained. Same goes for men who like to keep their afros. Long hair comes at a cost of having to maintain it and putting effort into it. If you can’t do that or are too busy for it, just cut them short.Sun glassesSun glasses are worn for a range of reasons; to look cool or to shelter your eyes from the sun. But the accessory was somewhat misused in 2013 with some donning them at night in night clubs in pursuit of coolness. Let’s leave that behind and also try to find the right sunglasses according to the shapes of our faces.Go slow on rubber shoesAs comfortable as they are, men are increasingly getting carried away by the shoes and wearing them as often as daily with all attires including formal wear. It is probably time to take in mind that shoe makers also make other shoes.
