RWAMAGANA — Students of Kayonza Modern Secondary School have been encouraged to excel in their studies, to maintain the reputation of the school.

"We are here to encourage you to keep the reputation of our school. Excellence is one way we can maintain the reputation of the school. We ask you to read hard in order to pass,” John Ruzima Coordinator of Alliance of Students and Friends of Kayonza Modern Secondary School said.

Ruzima was speaking during a visit of the school’s former students on the 18th of June.

The students are now in different universities across the country. The visiting students awarded books and pencils and other scholastic material to students who performed well in 2007.

This was a way to motivate them to aim higher.
"We want you to be disciplined because discipline will bring you success,” Winnie Kabayiza, a former head girl said.

"We studied here and passed with flying colours. We therefore wish you to maintain it. We were sleeping in the same dormitories, fetching the same water, eating the same food, and observing the same school rules and regulations. But now we are independent at campus,” Kabayiza added.

Stephen Rwamurangwa, the school headmaster was optimistic of the visit and urged the students to imitate their old boys and girls. He also called on the visiting group to continue their support to the school.

"People pass through school and go but the school remains. We therefore call upon you to support the school to provide quality education for development of the nation,” Rwamurangwa said.
