RwandAir Volleyball Club will represent Rwanda at the forthcoming Paul Bitok National Volleyball tournament that will take place in Nairobi from April 7-9.

The team, led by head coach Peter Kamasa, departs Kigali for the three-day competition on Wednesday, April 5.

RwandAir will be making their first participation in a volleyball competition organized out of Rwanda.

Organized by former Rwanda volleyball coach Paul Bitok, the tournament will take place at Nyayo National Stadium Gymnasium in Nairobi, bringing together 12 men’s teams and eight women teams.

Kenyan volleyball league champions GSU, Kenya prison, Kenya Army, Equity Bank and RwandAir are among notable men’s teams that confirmed their participation.

Prior to the tournament, Kamasa told Times Sport that he has confidence in his players that they can impress on their maiden appearance.

"We have been doing well in the local competitions, and I hope we will do all we can to represent our country in Kenya,” Kamasa said.

"This is a big tournament for the team. It will be tough for them but I am confident they will give their best,” he noted.

The draw for the event is due on Wednesday, April 5, at 2pm at KCB Sports Club.

RwandAir have been in fine form domestically as they late last week defeated BK Volleyball Club 3-2 in the quarter finals of the International Labour Day tournament late last week to set a date with IPRC-Ngoma in the semifinals.

The club twice won the Cooperate League in 2019 and 2021 before losing the final of the 2022 edition to WASAC.
