NYANZA – The construction of a new multimillion building at the Institute of Legal Practice and Development (ILPD) in Nyanza district has been completed.

The new structure worth over Rwf934million was constructed with funding from the Belgian Government, with over Rwf149m contribution coming from the Government.

The contractors-EGC Construction Company handed over the new building to the Ministry of Justice last Thursday ahead of the official commissioning slated for July.

Esperance Nyirasafari, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Justice, said, "The new building will accommodate more students from within the region and improve standards of education in legal practice.”

Nyirasafari also lauded the Belgian government for its continuous support aimed at improving the justice sector in general.

The ILPD Director, Vestina Rukimirana Nsanze, said that the new building will solve the problem of lack of lecture rooms, office and conference space.

She said: "Once we unveil this new building we expect to see a change in the way we deliver our services.”
The Nyanza based institute has at least 38 students currently taking short courses in legal studies.
