Rayon Sports have been cleared to register new players after FIFA officially lifted the transfer ban imposed on the club over the unlawful dismissal of Malian midfielder Souleymane Daffé.

The ban, which came into effect on March 17, followed a FIFA ruling in favour of Daffé after he filed a case against the local giants. FIFA had ordered Rayon Sports to settle the player’s dues within 45 days.

Failure to comply led to sanctions barring the club from registering new players until January 2028.

With preparations underway for the 2026/27 season, Rayon Sports moved to resolve the dispute.

The club paid the required compensation of 23 million Rwandan Francs, bringing the matter to a close.

Daffé had joined Rayon Sports in January 2025 but was released during the summer of the same year despite still being under contract, a move that prompted the player to seek redress through FIFA.

On July 2, FIFA formally notified FERWAFA that the dispute had been settled and instructed that the registration ban on Rayon Sports be lifted with immediate effect.
