The group draw for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers held in Cairo, Egypt, on Tuesday left Rwanda pooled in Group K alongside Mali, Cape Verde and Liberia.

The Amavubi face a challenging but open group as they aim to secure qualification for the tournament that will be co-hosted by Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania.
As host nations, Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania have all been placed in separate groups. Kenya are in Group D with South Africa, Guinea and Eritrea while Uganda is in Group H alongside Tunisia, Libya and Botswana.
Tanzania are in Group L with Nigeria, Madagascar and Guinea-Bissau.
The qualification campaign will be played across FIFA international windows between September 2026 and March 2027, with the top teams advancing to the final tournament in East Africa.
