BOKOTA Labama’s time at APR came to an abrupt end yesterday when the striker was kicked out of the club.
The sack was imminent after widespread reports that the ten-time league champions could not take any more of the player’s insolence.

Bokota joined APR in the second half of last season after becoming a hit at arch-rivals Rayon Sport where he had been nicknamed Kamana ‘God of goals’.

And although he tried to live up to his reputation at the army-side, his off-field indiscipline overshadowed his performance. This season, he had scored 10 goals, just one short of top scorer Roger Tchouassi of Police.

The 29-year-old striker could also be punished by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) after featuring in the DRC football league last Sunday.

Sources close to the APR indicate that the player traveled to DRC immediately after APR’s 1-0 Orange Champions League triumph over Congolese side TP Mazembe.

As APR continue their preparations for the Champions League return leg in Kinshasa, the club’s Secretary General reckons that Bokota is a distraction they would not tolerate.

"Right now, we don’t need anything distracting the team and clearly Bokota is,” the official conceded.

Bokota joined Rayon in September 2007. After a fruitful campaign, he was summoned to the national football team ‘Amavubi Stars’.

A season later, he crossed over to APR, in the process creating lots of enemies in the Blues’ camp.
