Cook, 32, won two NBA championships—first with the Warriors in 2018 and later with the Lakers in 2020.
APR Basketball Club have strengthened their squad for the Basketball Africa League (BAL) 2026 with the signing of two-time NBA champion Quinn Cook.
Cook, 32, won two NBA championships—first with the Warriors in 2018 and later with the Lakers in 2020. During his NBA career, he also featured for the Dallas Mavericks, New Orleans Pelicans, and Cleveland Cavaliers.
The American guard is expected to arrive in Kigali on Wednesday, March 11, where he will join the rest of the APR squad as preparations intensify for the continental tournament.
Cook has also played extensively in the NBA G League and had professional stints in several countries, including China.
APR have been active in the transfer market as they look to build a competitive roster for the upcoming BAL season.
Among the new additions are South Sudanese-Australian forward Madut Akec and South Sudan international Mangok Mathiang, who both joined earlier this month.
The army side has also recruited American shooting guard Leonard Craig Randall, another former NBA G League player, as well as Teafale Marquise Lenard Jr., who previously featured for South African side Made By Basketball (MBB).
Lenard Jr. impressed during the BAL 2025 season, particularly during the Nile Conference in Kigali, where his strong performances earned him places in the All-BAL 2025 Second Team and the All-Defensive First Team.
Times Sport also understands that APR have reached an agreement with Congolese player Garmine Kande and his club Deportivo Elemental Group Alega from Spain over a buyout clause, paving the way for another potential reinforcement.
