Rubavu Mayor’s resignation approved

The District Advisory Council (DAC) of Rubavu on Wednesday approved the resignation recently tendered in by Mayor, Celestin Karabayinga. Twagirayezu handed in his resignation letter on Tuesday citing personal reasons. “I feel I can do nothing much for the district. I need someone to replace me so that I get enough time to look after my family,” Twagirayezu told the council.

The District Advisory Council (DAC) of Rubavu on Wednesday approved the resignation recently tendered in by Mayor, Celestin Karabayinga.

Twagirayezu handed in his resignation letter on Tuesday citing personal reasons.

"I feel I can do nothing much for the district. I need someone to replace me so that I get enough time to look after my family,” Twagirayezu told the council.

Rachael Nyirasafari, the DAC president said that they "have accepted this resignation, meaning that from now on, according to the law, the Vice Mayor in charge Finance and Economic Affairs will step in until elections are held.”

Meanwhile, Twagirayezu said that he would always be available to give any contribution to what he said was "his district.”
