Rwanda’s industrial output recorded an annual average growth rate of 6.5 per cent in April 2026, according to the National Institute of Statistics of Rwanda (NISR). ALSO READ: Rwanda’s industrial output rises 6.2% in March The latest Index of Industrial Production published on Thursday, June 4, shows that industrial output increased by 0.7 per cent compared to April 2025. Growth was recorded across all major industrial sectors. Electricity output increased by 14.8 per cent year on year, while water and waste management activities grew by 14.1 per cent. Mining and quarrying expanded by 5.3 per cent, and manufacturing rose by 5.5 per cent. ALSO READ: Industrial output rises by 10 per cent in November Manufacturing growth was largely driven by food processing, which increased by 8.3 per cent compared to April 2025. Beverages and tobacco production also rose by 3 per cent. However, some manufacturing subsectors registered declines. Output of non-metallic mineral products dropped by 16.7 per cent, while wood, paper and printing activities decreased by 3.2 per cent. On the annual average basis, electricity recorded growth of 11.2 per cent, followed by non-metallic mineral products at 8.9 per cent and furniture and other manufacturing activities at 8 per cent. Manufacturing as a whole posted annual average growth of 5 per cent.
