SPORTS CLUB Kiyovu returned to winning ways after last weekend’s draw with Rayon Sport by battering relegation battling Marines 5-0 in a national league match played yesterday at Mumena stadium.

Jean Marie Ntagwabira’s side played their best football of the season as Idesbald Nshuti hit a hat-trick with Fuadi Ndayisenga and Pappy Nkunda completing the whitewash.

Surprise league contenders Etincelles regained top spot on the table standing despite being held to a 1-all draw by AS Kigali at Umuganda stadium.

Hamadi Hakizimana put the home side in the lead in the first half before Louis Nshimiyimana scored an equalizer 15 before the end of the game.

The Gisenyi-based side lead second placed APR by a point but the champions can return to the top if they beat rivals Atraco this afternoon at Nyamirambo stadium.

Police defeated Mukura 2-1. Mukura took the lead on the 6th minute through Yumba Kayite but Fabrice Twagirimana and Pekeyake Tuyisenge scored in the 55th and 84th minutes respectively to earn a deserved victory.

Elsewhere, Peter Kagabo scored the lone goal as Rayon Sport snatched maximum points against Musanze.

After yesterday’s matches, Etincelles lies at the summit of the league table with 20 points, one point ahead of APR. Rayon Sport, Police and Atraco all have 17 points.
