Forward Emmanuel Fromo scored two goals as Al Hilal beat Gasogi United 2-0 at Kigali Pelé Stadium on Wednesday.
Fresh from the CAF Champions League, Al Hilal resumed their league action after drawing 1-1 against St Eloi Lupopo in Group C match held in Lubumbashi on Sunday, November 30.
Both sides were tied to goalless until Fromo broke the deadlock in the 60th minute before adding the second goal two minutes later.
Only Al Hilal and league leaders Police are yet to lose Rwanda Premier League match this season.
Laurentiu Reghecampf’s side won the match without seven key players who joined their respective national teams competing in the FIFA Arab Cup taking place in Doha, Qatar.
The club, however, had Jean Claude Girumugisha back to action after watching his club’s Champions League match against St Eloi Lupopo from the stands. The Burundian winger is serving a three-match suspension for playing a part in recent post-match altercations between Al Hilal and MC Alger in Kigali.
Despite the loss, Gasogi United stayed in third place with 18 points.
Al-Merrikh back on track
Meanwhile, Al-Merrick beat Rutsiro FC 1-0 at Umuganda Stadium, thanks to a lone goal from Ibrahim Babijide Fatokum in the 53rd minute.
The win eased pressure on Darko Novic whose side, prior to the match, had lost two matches in a row.
