The French Institute of Rwanda will host 99.9 Station: The Night Show! On November 29, at 7 p.m., a new performance installation by Rwandan artiste Ngaara, known for his genre-bending sound, striking visuals, and bold experimentation.
Ngaara has emerged as one of the most distinctive voices in Rwanda’s alternative scene, merging visual arts, experimental soundscapes, rap, and conceptual storytelling.
His introspective writing and genre-defying approach continue to push the boundaries of contemporary Rwandan art, where performance, sound, and image converge into a single, immersive experience.

99.9 Station: The Night Show! transforms the stage into a fictional frequency inspired by Ngaara’s upcoming sonic project, 99.9 FM, his second studio album. Through satire, fiction, and live performance, he reimagines the glossy world of mainstream music promotion—mocking its choreographed interviews, exaggerated rollouts, and obsession with spectacle.
"This is a very bold challenge, conceptually... taking on the entire mainstream industry as a way to parody the spectacle behind the spectacle. As we all know very well, it sells fantasies louder than the art itself,” Ngaara explains.

In this show, he steps into the role of a pilot broadcasting through his own surreal radio-television station, guiding the audience into an unpredictable world where logic fades and music takes over. "It is an absurd station—unpredictable, naturally making everything and anything possible,” he adds. The result is a hybrid of concert, theatre, and installation art.
Ngaara envisions the project as a launchpad for broader artistic exchange, with plans to take 99.9 Station to cities across Rwanda and beyond. "The goal is to branch out, connect, and exchange artistically with other vibrant alternative scenes on the continent. That way, we build a stronger creative ecosystem and network beyond just Kigali,” he says.
The artiste made his debut in 2020 with Amaraso at the height of the Kinyatrap wave. Since then, he has played a key creative role in shaping some of the scene’s most defining projects, contributing to acclaimed albums like Bushali’s Ibihe 7, After Doze, Overdoze, Kinyarwanda, and Umuzungu w’Igikara, among others.
His latest single, Imiringa featuring Mvfasta, offers a visual glimpse into the world of 99.9 FM.
Tickets are available on HustleSasa for 9,990 RWF.
