KARONGI- Judicial police officers and prosecutors should partner in clumping down the torture of suspects and witnesses, a Court official has said.

Fiacre Nyarwihenda, the chief prosecutor of Karongi District said it is important for all the relevant organs to work together in order to ensure that justice prevails.

"We all need to avoid taking biased decisions if justice is to reach every one,” Nyarwihenda said.

He was speaking at a meeting between judges and prosecutors from Karongi Intermediate Court. Police officers from all stations within the district attended the meeting. 

The Karongi District Police Commander, Supt. Danny Ndayambaje pointed out the need to collectively tackle the most leading forms of violence in the region.

Sexual and physical violence rank top in the area. However, Ndyambaje pointed out that there are cases of psychological and economic violence which  also need urgent attention.
