APR hitter Merci Gisubizo has completed his move to cross town rivals REG on a two-year deal-courtesy.

APR VC left attacker, Merci Gisubizo, has joined rivals Rwanda Energy Group (REG) on a two-year contract.

The move comes just before the 2025 Liberation Cup, which begins this Friday, July 4.

Gisubizo becomes REG’s third recruit, joining setter Crispin Ntanteteri and Ugandan coach Benon Bavuga Mugisha who made immediate impact for the electricians who went on to win the Genocide Memorial tournament after defeating Kenyan club Chema VC in the final.

The move marks a significant step in the 21-year-old hitter’s comeback from his one-year ban from all volleyball activities after the local volleyball governing body (FRVB) charged him for misconduct during the 2023 CAVB Zone V Championship.

Gisubizo played for APR since 2020 and helped them win a number of trophies including the 2024 and 2025 league titles.

At international level, he captained the U21 national volleyball team at the 2022 Africa U21 Nations Volleyball Championship.
