The Rwanda Workforce Development Authority has thrown its weight behind vocational training in the hospitality sector, as it launched a one-month intensive training course in the Musanze and Rubavu districts, both of which are in the thick of tourism activities.

It is understood that through a Commonwealth initiative – Rwanda is expected to join the group of nations shortly – trainers were receiving instructions in Singapore and are now, like their Singaporean colleagues, rolling out the courses back home in Rwanda.

In past weeks, various bodies connected with the tourism sector in the country have stepped up their efforts to spur workplace training for hospitality staff to equip them with skills similar to that found in other parts of Eastern Africa - ahead of common standards coming into effect soon.
