RWAMAGANA - Soldiers of the Rwanda Defence Forces (RDF) 45th Battalion at the weekend embarked on the use of plays and songs to sensitise students of St. Aloys Secondary School, in Rwamagana about HIV/AIDS.
The school’s head master, Camille Rudasingwa, said that the soldiers’ intervention was a great boost to the school’s anti-HIV Club.
"They have added great value to our students’ knowledge; students thought there are only sugar daddies. But alas, even sugar mummies are present in our communities,” he said.
The representative of the students’ anti-AIDS club, Appolinairie Habimana, commended the soldiers’ intervention as timely.
"HIV is still spreading since we still lose some of our school mates to AIDS. The soldiers are actually doing us great service,” he said.
He added that with the influence of cross generation sex, school children need day to day sensitisation to resist falling prey to such temptations.
Parents who attended the function, urged the students to heed the advice on AIDS prevention, so as to avoid contracting the virus.
The anti- AIDS Army Club at 45th Battalion works within its members and beyond to conduct awareness campaigns to check the killer scourge , according to army sources.
