NYAGATARE – The governor of Eastern Province, Dr. Ephraim Kabayija has reminded local leaders that the set deadline for the completion of classrooms meant to support the nine-year-Basic Education programme will have to be strictly adhered to.

He made the reminder last  Thursday, while meeting local leaders as well  members of cooperatives and head teachers in Nyagatare District.

The governor told head teachers present that the education ministry has committed itself to provide some construction materials to schools in which the beneficiary  schools  have already received the materials.

He added that in that case the beneficiary schools should have ended construction process by the end of this month.

"It’s clear that the ministry pledged construction materials but some schools have not got them. But those with materials must have ended construction works not later than November 1 this year,’ Kabayija said.

He criticised some head teachers for not working jointly with local leaders, saying it derails the construction of the classrooms.

The governor also reminded farmers that forming cooperatives is the only viable way to boost their production and enhance economic levels.

He urged cooperative representatives to manage their resources productively and ensure that their members benefit equally.

The Rwanda Defense Forces(RDF) division commander in Kigali City and Eastern Province, Maj. Gen Fred Ibingira, who had accompanied the governor, observed that Nyagatare District has economic potentials which if fully utilised can lead the  district to become the country’s economic hub.
