NYAGATARE - Employees of the Anglican Church in Nyagatare district have complained to their management over their delayed salaries. 

Some of the employees interviewed by The New Times yesterday said that they have not been paid for at least six months. 

‘Some of us last received our salaries in January this year while others were last paid their February salaries. We have been complaining to the management but to no avail,’ one of the employees who preferred anonymity said. 

Another employee said that when they request for their salary arrears, the management’s response has been that those who cannot tolerate being patient can instead take voluntary leave. 

‘They tell who ever demands for his salary to go on a voluntary leave. Saying that at the moment  the church is not in a position to settle off the arrears. We are worried over this situation,’ she said. 

In another interview, Abaho Shyaka Shalom, the Director of Seeds of Hope Centre, a business unit at the Anglican Church in Gahini (Kayonza district) confirmed the delays in paying their employees. He however said that the matter will be resolved in due course.
