Kagame joins neighbours in Umuganda

NYARUGENGE - President Paul Kagame yesterday joined residents near the State House in Kiyovu, Nyarugenge district for the monthly community work, Umuganda. He urged them to uphold the principle and practice of Umuganda to maintain high standards of cleanliness in the neighbourhood. The President also spoke about future plans for the area, which the city of Kigali intends to sell to residents and developers, with the aim of modernising the neighbourhood in line with the Kigali city Master Plan.

NYARUGENGE - President Paul Kagame yesterday joined residents near the State House in Kiyovu, Nyarugenge district for the monthly community work, Umuganda.

He urged them to uphold the principle and practice of Umuganda to maintain high standards of cleanliness in the neighbourhood.

The President also spoke about future plans for the area, which the city of Kigali intends to sell to residents and developers, with the aim of modernising the neighbourhood in line with the Kigali city Master Plan.

In a brief telephone interview with Sunday Times, Kigali City Mayor, Dr. Aisa Kirabo Kacyira, said that the physical plans for the area, will be ready in a month’s time, and will be availed to residents and developers.

She said the upper Kiyovu area will, according to the Master Plan, be transformed into a high-end residential and commercial area, with apartments, and other commercial structures such as hotels.
