The Equity Market

Today, the Rwanda OTC market recorded no transaction at the close of business.

Wednesday 19th August 2009, on the Nairobi Stock Exchange (NSE) a total of 514,400 KCB shares were traded. KCB shares traded between 21.25 Kshs (Rwf.158) and Kshs 22.00 (Rwf 163) to close at Kshs 21.75 (Rfw 162).

The NSE all share indexes closed 0.28 points down to close at 70.21. The trading volumes were higher than the previous day; 23, 713,200 shares were traded with a turnover of Kshs 253,155,245 on Wednesday while 10,105,900 shares had been traded with a turnover of Kshs 103,144,045 on Tuesday.

DSE (Dares Salaam Stock Exchange) and USE (Uganda Securities Exchange) did not trade KCB shares.

The Bond Market:

On the bond market no transactions were recorded.

At the close of business, Rwf 2 billion worth of Government bonds were on offer (sellers) at Rwf 99.8 and there were two bids (buyers) of Rwf 2 billion and Rwf 5 million for the same bonds at 94.00 and 97.80, respectively.

There were also BCR bank bonds worth Rwf 150 million on offer at Rwf 100.50.
