Rwanda’s national women’s sitting volleyball team on Monday, November 7, won their third group stage game of the ongoing Sitting Volleyball World Championships in Sarajevo, Bosnia.

They defeated Ukraine 3-2 sets (15-25, 25-23, 25-21, 16-25, 15-11) to set a quarter-final date with Slovenia.

A hard-fought victory over Ukraine was the African representatives’ third straight win in the group stages.

Skipper Liliane Mukobwankawe and her teammates eased past Poland 3-1 in their opening game of the group stages before outshining hosts Bosnia Herzegovina 3-0 to maintain their perfect start to the campaign.

The win against Ukraine saw Mosad Elajiuty’s women lead Group A table before they play their second game of the day against Hungary at 7.45pm in a fixture that could change nothing on the table with the side set to end the group stage at the top.
