Nkundabera, Nirere win 2025 Heroes Cycling Race

Xaverine Nirere won the women category of the 2025 Heroes Cycling Race held on Saturday, January 18.

Eric Nkundabera and Xaverine Nirere won the senior races of the 2025 Heroes Cycling Race held on Saturday, January 18.

The 136-kilometer men's race concluded at BK Arena after traversing various parts of Gasabo District.

Nkundabera, riding for Team Rwanda, clocked three hours, 31 minutes, and 53 seconds to secure first place. He was closely followed by Bernabé Gahemba of Java-InovoTec.

In the women&039;s category, Nirere of Team Amani won the race for the third consecutive year. Nirere completed the 102-kilometer course in two hours, 57 minutes, and 58 seconds, with Djazil Mwamikazi finishing second at three hours, one minute, and 13 seconds.

In the youth category, Alphodis Tuyipfukamire of Benediction Club topped the 102-kilometer race, finishing in two hours, 48 minutes, and 10 seconds. He narrowly edged out Pacific Byusa of Les Amis Sportifs, who posted the same time.

The junior women's category saw Yvonne Masengesho of Ndabaga Women Team win the 68-kilometer race in two hours, nine minutes, and 52 seconds. Amina Irasetsa of Bike for Future CT followed, finishing in two hours, 21 minutes, and 28 seconds.

Last year’s competition was won by Eric Manizabayo of Benediction Club in the men’s race and Nirere of Team Amani in the women’s race.
