APR Volleyball Club head coach Elia Mutabazi has urged his team to turn their disappointment at the recently concluded Nyerere Championship into motivation.

The regional tournament was held from October 10 to 14 in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, attracting clubs from East African countries.

APR went all the way to the finals but lost 3-1 sets to Kenya’s General Service Unit (GSU).

The competition happens annually in commemoration of Julius Nyerere, the first president of Tanzania.

Reflecting on the tournament, Mutabazi, said: "It was such a disappointment because we were determined to win the title. But this failure gives us extra motivation to work in the ongoing national league.”

The national volleyball league will continue on the weekend of October 22.
