Volleyball: APR aim to reach Nyerere tourney final

APR Women’s Volleyball Club are holding preparations for this year’s Nyerere International Championship that will take place from October 10-14 in Arusha, Tanzania

The tournament is an annual sports event held in commemoration of Julius Nyerere, the first president of Tanzania.

It brings together teams from countries like Burundi, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda and Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).

APR is carrying out daily training sessions at IPRC-Kigali, and expects to fly out soon for the tournament.

Speaking to media, Florien Siborurema, the club’s head coach noted that their aim is to reach the finals.

"It is a big tournament. We need to be calm and ready for the challenge. Our target is to reach the final game,” he said.

Rwanda will join Burundi, Uganda, and Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) at the regional tournament.
