Tour du Rwanda: Being dropped will "motivate" Nsengimana to work harder

Jean Bosco Nsengimana has admitted that he feels disappointed after being dropped from his team's final squad for Tour du Rwanda 2024, but insists the development will motivate him to work harder.

Nsengimana, 31, plays for Java Inovotec.

The team’s technical bench decided to drop him from the squad that will participate in the 2024 edition of Tour du Rwanda which is slated for February 18-25.

A quite experienced rider, Nsengimana holds a record of participating in 13 Tour du Rwanda editions out of which he won one in 2015.

"I am not upset, though of course you can feel disappointed. If you look back at where I am coming from, I have to be positive and just focus on working hard again. This (being dropped) will only motivate me to work even harder,” he said.

The Nyabihu-born rider who is famous for his mountain climbing prowess is one of the celebrated Rwandan cyclists.

He rose to fame mainly in 2015 while playing for Team Rwanda. During that year, he won Tour du Rwanda, after which he moved to German cycling outfit Bike Aid.

Some of the major races in which he has performed include the African Championship where he helped Team Rwanda win Bronze in 2017 and 2023 in Ghana. He also won some local races as an individual in 2022.
