Sitting volleyball: Intense battles await in championship playoffs

The third phase of the men's and women's sitting volleyball championship that unfolded on Sunday, January 14, in Bugesera District, narrowed down the competition to four teams that will tussle it out in the quarterfinals.

In the men's category, Group A was topped by Gasabo with 27 points, while Musanze finished second with 24. Nyagatare came third with 19 points, and Rwamagana finished fourth with 17.

In Group B, Gisagara finished first with 24 points, Rusizi finished second with 18 points, Burera came third with 18 points, and Rubavu finished fourth with 15 points.

The results mean Gasabo will face off with Rubavu, while Musanze will take on Burera. Nyagatare will tussle it out with Rusizi, and Rwamagana will go head-to-head with Gisagara in the men’s quarterfinals.

In the women's category, Bugesera secured the top spot with 22 points, Gicumbi came second with 21 points, while Nyarugenge was third with 18 points, and Musanze finished fourth with 17 points.

The women’s category is now at the semi-final stage which will feature matches including one between reigning champions Bugesera and Musanze, while Gicumbi will face with Nyarugenge.
