The 2023/24 Rwanda Volleyball League edges closer to its climax with teams eyeing a top four finish to qualify for the playoffs in both men and women's categories.

The playoffs are scheduled in November and, with one more phase to play this coming weekend, the likes of APR, Gisagara, Rwanda Energy Group (REG) and Police are in pole position to reach the men’s league playoffs while APR, RRA, Police and Ruhango are leading the women’s fray.

APR lead the men’s league table with 32 points, two points clear of defending champions REG and Gisagara who are both tied on 29 points while Police complete the top four with 27 points.

IPRC-Musanze, Kirehe, and Kigali Volleyball Club (KVC) have no chance of making it in the top four even if they win all their remaining matches. The least they could do is to fight for ranking places prior to the final phase which comes to Kigali over the coming weekend.

Meanwhile, APR lead the women’s league table with 26 points, three points clear of RRA while Police (17) and Ruhango (10), are third and fourth respectively.

Each team has three games to play ahead of the final phase which will take place at Kimisigara Gymnasium and STECOL in Kigali

The phase will determine the final rankings which will decide who will play who in the playoffs.

According to the current format, the playoffs will see number one-ranked team take on the team that will finish in fourth place, while second and third-ranked teams will be lock horns in another playoff game.

The winner from each playoff will advance to the final.
