Outdoor activities

Enjoy several outdoor activities like zip-lining, horse riding in the arena, quad bikes, bungee lifts, trampoline, and badminton, among others at Fazenda Sengha. This is an outdoor recreational centre located at the top of Mount Kigali, in Nyamirambo.

The prices are fair yet if you go in groups of four, and more, you’re offered a discount on diverse activities. The ambiance is just perfect for taking pictures and creating memories. The place has all kinds of foods, snacks, and drinks, but you are allowed to pack your own food as well.

Imbuga City Walk

To gaze at the city of Kigali, Imbuga City Walk is recommended. It is the main car free zone located in Kigali’s central business area that was transformed into recreation and green space with pedestrian and cycling friendly pavements, green corridor landscaping, kiosks for a food court and other items, an exhibition zone in addition to a kids’ playground. It is also a convenient place to have conversations, or surf away on free Wi-Fi.

Taste good coffee

For coffee lovers, Rwanda is known for growing high quality coffee in East Africa, taste it and judge for yourself. Rwandan coffee has an exceptionally bright and vibrant taste with a stand-out aroma. It also has a fruitier flavor with a smooth, mellow, balanced acidity, and a distinct floral taste.

Tour Kigali

You can take a trip around Kigali for about three hours. You can either opt for hiring a motorcyclist as motorcycles known as ‘Motos’ are the commonest means of transport in Rwanda. They are not only cheap but get you to your destination in no tiIt is mandatory to wear a helmet. Alternatively, you can hire a cab.

Visit art galleries

Rwanda’s art and culture are blended, it is hard to talk about one, and leave the other. We are gifted with numerous artists in all genres, and the increasing number of them has enabled the establishment of more art galleries. Nyundo Arts School (Ecole d'Arts de Nyundo) is among the schools that have gifted Rwandans with skills in art.

You can visit the known art galleries such as Kigali Arts Center which offers space to talented artists engrossed in contemporary African art. Some of the art pieces they showcase include illustrations, sculptures, and mixed media expressions. For Inshuti Arts and Cultural Center, situated in Musanze, be sure to find paintings, drawings, sculptures, and mixed media art pieces.

Go Cycling

Rwandan good roads, and a cool climate enable a safe ride around the city. You can rent a bicycle to move around at Kairos Cycling or Kigali Rides. Also, you can order a bike via an exceptional bike-sharing app, known as ‘GuraRide’ managed by Gura Universal Link. With the mobile app, you can scan the Quick Response-QR code on the bike lock to release and start your ride.

Bikes are parked at stations throughout the city, including the Marriott Hotel downtown and MTN Centre in Remera. With the GuraRide app, you can use it to unlock a bike, and cycle it to the next park station, and prices depend on the distance traveled.

Read some books about Rwanda

If you’re a reader or someone who fancies knowing about Rwanda’s history but don’t seem to have all the necessary information via Google, the Kigali Public Library is the convenient place for reading. It is quiet, with no interruptions. The library has access to instructive, cultural, and motivational materials in digital and physical formats.

Go for a professional spa

The other option is visiting is the Campaign Against Genocide Museum which is located at the Parliamentary building and depicts in detail how the Campaign Against Genocide plan was executed by RPF/A following the withdrawal of UN troops leaving the targeted Tutsi under the mercy of the Genocidaires. The Parliament itself has a story of its own. Then there is the Presidential Palace Museum which is close to the airport.
