Rwandan musician Kevin Kade will miss the upcoming MTN Iwacu Muzika Festival after being hospitalized in the United States for a health condition, his management said Monday. In a statement shared on his Instagram page, YEEBAA Music Inc. said the singer remains under medical care at a hospital in Arizona, where doctors have advised him to suspend performances. ALSO READ: Kevin Kade marks five years in music as ‘The Last Night’ ushers Kigali into 2026 “With heavy hearts, we would like to inform you that Kevin Kade is currently facing a health challenge and is under medical care,” the statement said. “Following medical advice, he will be unable to participate in the upcoming MTN Iwacu Muzika Festival organised by EAP.” Kevin Kade’s executive producer, Serge Muhizi, said the artiste travelled to the United States three weeks ago for work when the illness returned. He said the team decided to keep him there so he could receive proper medical care before returning home. ALSO READ: Audiomack co-founder backs Rwanda’s rise in music streaming space “He had gone to the US for work and while he was there, the illness came back,” Muhizi said. “We had to make the decision for him to stay there and receive proper medical attention before he can return.” The health concerns first surfaced in April after the singer travelled to Kampala, Uganda, for a performance, according to the management. On returning to Rwanda, he went to Rwanda Military Hospital, Muhabura wing, after feeling unwell. “We kept on persisting, but we have now decided to call off the nearest shows to allow him proper time to recover,” he said. “His health has to come first.” Kevin Kade’s management said he is suffering from a lung condition that causes fluid to collect in the lungs. The news comes days before the MTN Iwacu Muzika Festival is set to begin on Saturday, June 20, leaving organisers to continue the tour without one of the expected performers. The singer also has a Canada tour scheduled for September and October. His team asked fans to keep him in their thoughts as he focuses on recovery.
