Rwandan volleyball star Venuste Gatsinzi is set to join Moroccan first division outfit FUS de Rabat on a two-year deal, Times Sport has established.

The opposite has a two-year contract with APR but it is reported that the Moroccan side is ready to pay his buyout clause to secure his services.

Gatsinzi, 25, was among outstanding performers for the Rwandan team that finished during the 2023 African Men's Volleyball Nations Championship that concluded in Cairo, Egypt from September 3-13.

His move is not only the beginning of his professional volleyball journey but it will also a big boost for Paulo De Tarso’s side in future.

Gatsinzi moves to FUS de Rabat where he will be earning about $2000 in monthly wages. The club will also cover his accommodation.

His transfer follows that of Gisagara Volleyball Club captain Wycliff Dusenge who completed his move to United Arab Emirates side Al-Nassr VC last week on a one-year deal.

Gatsinzi was born on April 1, 1998, in Gasabo District, to Vincent Rusanganwa (RIP) and Margelitte Mukanyangezi. He is the fifth child in a family of eight, four boys and four girls.

He secured his first contract with league side Umubano Blue Tigers, whom he represented for one year before joining University of Kibungo (now-defunct) on a one-year deal in 2015.

In 2018, Gatsinzi joined APR and, in October 2021, he was the captain of the team that claimed their first league title in six years.

Besides his rapid rise in indoor volleyball, Gatsinzi also plays beach volleyball. After failing to secure a ticket to the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games, he teamed up with Olivier Ntagengwa and qualified together for the Common Wealth Games held in Birmingham, United Kingdom from July 28 to August 8, 2022.
