A hobby is considered as a pastime or a regular activity done for enjoyment, conducted in your time for recreation, relation or pleasure. Such activities always make one lively and spike up the mood, if they happen to know their hobbies.

According to Peaceinnovation.com, work is important to gain money, experience, and ultimately increase your value, having hobbies can lead to similar outcomes.

"Hobbies can bring about positivity, improve one’s feeling of productivity, and how they could lead to professional connections and work opportunities into the future.”

It is so unfortunate, when you ask someone their hobbies and they don’t seem to have any or be interested in knowing what works for them

Such activities include, engaging in creative and artistic pursuits, sports, reading, traveling, dancing, singing, cooking, reading, gardening or bird watching, and many more other amusements.

Basically, there is no specific number of hobby activities that exists, anything can work for you since we are very fortune to have different options out there.

Sandra Kazirika, a student at University of Kigali, says that her hobbies include, dancing, singing, drawing, cooking, swimming, chilling with friends and traveling.

She says that knowing your hobbies helps you deal with down moments and determine your patience, since you know that at the end of the day, you will jump to your hobby after all and get back to a great mood.

"Having a hobby helps you release stress and keeps you engaged in something you really enjoy. This will need your patience, until you fall to something you need” Kazirika says

For Kellia Umuhoza, a nurse whose hobbies include cooking, walking, traveling and exploring says that having a hobby makes one fun to be around.

She says, people who know their hobbies often have experience and stories around that, and makes them interesting and likeable in society.

"Depending on the hobby, you are likely to develop a behavior that will make lots of people gain interest in you since it makes you sociable. They can also share specific knowledge about the hobby and will be beneficial to a ‘hobby mate’,” Umuhoza says

Additionally, Umuhoza adds that hobbies help you avoid boredom, learn new skills and help you develop new skills, as you go deeper to your hobby.

She gives an example, she likes cooking so she can basically invite friends over the weekends or when she free from work.

"Preparing meals has taught me so much about patience and focus because those are the ingredients to make delicious food. The more I cook, the better I get at it. There are days I cooked food that did not turn out so well, but I learned from my mistakes and improved each time” she says

Hobbies help us add to our social life, playing a great role to our overall health. You will connect with people who enjoy doing the same things as you, build connections and networks and this may determine your professionalism

Hobbies also prevent bad behaviors and habits, every time you are not occupied by work or other responsibilities, you do not waste time on things that do not matter or bad behaviors. You are likely to be productive and develop new skills when serving your hobbies, than wasting time on non-productive things.

According to Skilled at Life, the best way to cultivate a new hobby is to try something new. The world is full of wonderful, exciting activities that we can explore and adopt as our own.

All of us are unique and, therefore, our interests and hobbies vary. But once we find a hobby that we truly enjoy and are passionate about, we become hooked. It becomes part of our lives and captivates us in a very personal way.
