Rwandan coach Vincent Mashami has etched his name into the history books at Tanzanian top-flight side Dodoma Jiji after guiding the club to its longest unbeaten run under a single coach.
According to a statement published on the club's official social media platforms, Mashami has become the first coach in Dodoma Jiji's history to go seven consecutive league matches without defeat.
The impressive run has seen Dodoma Jiji register four wins and three draws during the 2026/27 campaign. The team recorded goalless draws against Coastal Union and JKT Tanzania, before sharing the spoils in a 1-1 draw with Singida Black Stars.
Mashami's side also secured victories over Geita Gold (3-0), Namungo FC (1-0), and TRA United (1-0), helping the club climb up the league standings.
After 10 rounds of league action, Dodoma Jiji occupies fifth place with 16 points, while Tanzanian giants Simba SC lead the table with 30 points.
Despite the historic achievement, Mashami believes there is still plenty of room for improvement.
"We are happy to have made history at Dodoma Jiji, but this is just the beginning," Mashami said.
"I still want us to improve daily. Every training session and every match is an opportunity for us to become a better team. The players have shown great commitment, but we must remain humble, keep working hard, and continue improving if we want to achieve our goals this season."
The achievement marks a significant milestone for Mashami, whose journey at the club has not been without challenges.
The former Rwanda national team coach joined Dodoma Jiji during the 2025/26 season. However, after overseeing only three matches, it emerged that his CAF 'A' coaching licence had expired, rendering him ineligible to continue coaching in the Tanzanian Premier League.
As a result, the club was fined 15 million Tanzanian shillings for fielding a coach whose qualifications did not meet the competition's requirements.
Mashami was subsequently required to undertake refresher courses to renew his licence and regain eligibility to coach in Tanzania. Demonstrating their faith in his abilities, Dodoma Jiji supported him throughout the process, covering the costs of the necessary training and certification.
Having successfully completed the required courses, Mashami returned to the dugout as the club's fully licensed head coach and has since rewarded the club's trust with a historic unbeaten streak.
The achievement further strengthens Mashami's reputation as one of Rwanda's most accomplished coaches and highlights his growing influence in Tanzanian football.
