APR FC forward Fidali Uwiyaremye has been sent home from the Rwanda national team camp after committing two disciplinary breaches as Amavubi prepare for their 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifying double-header against Mali. Uwiyaremye was dismissed from camp on Thursday, shortly after reporting to the team’s residential base at the FERWAFA Accommodation Facility, where Rwanda’s locally based players had begun preparations for the upcoming qualifiers. According to information from the camp, head coach Stephen Constantine had instructed all summoned players to report by midday for the start of the residential camp. However, Uwiyaremye arrived at around 1:50 p.m., nearly two hours late and after the team’s scheduled meeting had ended. Constantine reportedly opted not to take immediate action, intending to address the matter privately. However, the forward committed another breach later that day. The team was scheduled to train at 5 p.m. on the pitch within the FERWAFA complex, but Uwiyaremye reportedly arrived around 20 minutes late despite staying at the same facility. The repeated breaches prompted Constantine to order the player to pack his belongings and leave camp, according to sources. The sources also indicated that the decision followed previous concerns about the player’s conduct, although details of those concerns were not disclosed. The incident comes as Rwanda steps up preparations for two important Group K fixtures against Mali, with the first match scheduled for November 13 in Bamako before the return leg at Amahoro Stadium on November 17. Players called up for the qualifiers began reporting to camp on Thursday, with several foreign-based players already joining the squad. Among those who have reported are Kevin Muhire of South Sudan’s Jamus SC, Innocent Nshuti of Libya’s Al Wafaq and goalkeeper Fiacre Ntwari of South African side Kruger United. Other foreign-based players are expected to join the team in Bamako ahead of the first encounter. Rwanda and Mali are level on six points at the top of Group K after winning their opening two matches. Amavubi began their campaign with a 3-1 victory over Liberia before recording a 2-1 away win against Cape Verde. Mali also won both of their opening fixtures, beating Cape Verde 3-1 and Liberia 1-0.
