Etincelles FC have sacked head coach Bizimana Abdu, popularly known as Bekeni, following a difficult start to the 2026/27 BK Pro League season.

The club informed the coach of its decision on Friday, November 6, despite him having six months remaining on his contract. He will also leave his position as technical director.

Etincelles have collected seven points from their opening seven matches, recording one victory, two draws and four defeats.

Bekeni took charge of the Rubavu-based side as interim coach towards the end of last season, helping them avoid relegation to the Second Division. His success earned him a permanent appointment.

However, results have not gone his way this season, with the team struggling to find consistency.

During his tenure, Bekeni also publicly criticised the club’s management over resources and players’ bonuses, arguing that the challenges affected the team’s performances.

"We are in a very poor state; players go onto the pitch expecting performance bonuses, and when those aren’t provided, they end up losing the next match. Management really needs to address this issue of player bonuses, as it is detrimental to the players,” he said.

Etincelles are expected to begin the search for a replacement, with Radjab Bizumuremyi among the possible options to take charge of the team.
