Rwanda international Leroy-Jacques Mickels has completed a move to German third-tier side SV Waldhof Mannheim on a free transfer.

The 31-year-old forward returns to Germany after ending his spell with Azerbaijan Premier League club Zira FK.

Mickels has become a familiar face in Amavubi setup since making his international debut under head coach Stephen Constantine. He quickly impressed during the 2026 FIFA Series in March, where he featured alongside his brothers Joy Lance Mickels and Joy-Slayd Mickels, who were also called up to represent Rwanda.

In Rwanda’s opening match against Grenada, Mickels scored one of the four goals in a convincing 4-0 victory that secured the team’s place in the final.

He found the back of the net again in the final against Estonia, helping the Amavubi secure a 2-0 victory and lift the 2026 FIFA Series trophy on home soil.
