Friday, March 27 Rwanda 4–0 Grenada Leroy Jacques Mickels marked his debut for Amavubi with a goal as Rwanda cruised to a commanding 4–0 victory over Grenada in the 2026 FIFA Series international friendly tournament at the packed Amahoro Stadium on Friday. The match was attended by thousands of fans including President Paul Kagame. The win sends the hosts into Group A final, where they will face Estonia, who eliminated Kenya. The decisive match is scheduled for Monday, March 30, same venue. Leroy Jacques, featuring for Amavubi for the first time, opened the scoring in first-half stoppage time (45 2). He curled in a superb finish after receiving the ball from Jojea Kwizera on the right wing, breaking the deadlock and igniting celebrations among the home fans. Just three minutes later, Kwizera doubled Rwanda’s lead after combining neatly with Abeddy Biramahire in a well-worked one-two move, giving the hosts a comfortable 2–0 advantage heading into halftime. Rwanda maintained their momentum after the break. Captain Djihad Bizimana extended the lead with a powerful long-range strike to make it 3–0, further asserting Amavubi’s dominance. Hakim Sahabo, making a return to the national team after nearly two years, came off the bench to score the fourth goal, sealing an emphatic victory and putting the result beyond doubt. The result marks an impressive outing for head coach Stephen Constantine, who recently returned to the team after an 11-year absence. Despite the dominant scoreline, Rwanda had earlier missed several chances in the first half through Bonheur Mugisha, Biramahire, and Kwizera. Grenada struggled to find rhythm throughout the match, often failing to connect passes as Rwanda controlled proceedings. After a relatively balanced opening 30 minutes, Amavubi gradually took control, showing greater composure and attacking intent. In the second half, Rwanda managed the game effectively, maintaining possession and dictating the tempo while limiting Grenada’s opportunities. The final will now pit the hosts against Estonia who beat Kenya on penalty shootouts in an earlier Group B match. The pair had played out a 1-1 draw.
