RE: “Police explains fatal accident that claimed cyclist’s life” (The New Times, October 27).
Why is there even regular traffic on the route of a cycling race? Is this standard procedure? It strikes me as a very unsafe practice. The race routes should be kept free from regular road traffic at all times during the race.
You are right dear Ntwari; I cannot understand how pelotons and race’s convoys mix with the mundane traffic.
This is absolutely inexplicable. Our Police force should learn from the loss of this young man and become more organised in the coming cycling events, instead of trying to associate this terrible incident with reckless cycling behaviour.
