Editor, I think the model of using house maids by parents to look after their babies should be stopped as a matter of urgency. A new model of using day care centres should be embraced. Day care centres organised by mothers, especially old tenderly loving retired mothers, would form a better alternative to the menace of maids. Day care centres are good for both the safety of the kids and educational purposes. Most working families in Europe are using this model and it has reduced issues of abuse tremendously. The benefits of day care centres include one of providing a chance to children to learn social skills, communication skills and boosting their confidence at a tender age. Even babies learn from their peers as well as from caregivers. The most important benefit is the security and safety of one’s baby. Let those with money invest in this venture, otherwise house maids will kill all our babies before we know it. I have personally had to give up my professional job and became self-employed in order to look after my kids.
