Police set to defend Peace Cup title

Midfielder, Eric Ngendahimana’s lone strike was enough to see Police FC win last year’s Peace Cup title after seeing off Rayon Sports 1-0. “We are ready for the title defence, our focus is to reclaim again. My players are in good shape ahead of the tourney,” Andre Casa Mbungo said. “Our first priority is to win each game. I know it will be hard, but we are ambitious and we have to achieve the best results,” the former AS Kigali coach added. The play-off round will consist of 22 clubs vying for the 16 spots available for second division clubs. The 16 second division clubs will join other 16 first division sides in the 1/16th round of the 2016 annual Peace Cup competition. Meanwhile, Isonga FC has been given a bye into the next round following their fourth place finish in last year’s competition. The eleven winners plus Isonga FC as well as 4 best losers will earn automatic qualification to represent the second division league in the 1/16th round.
