RDF builds house for Ugandan who helped in Liberation struggle

The Rwanda Defence Forces (RDF), through the Rwanda High Commission in Uganda, over the weekend made a contribution toward building a house for Euphrasie Kakindi for her role in the Liberation struggle. The Rwandan community living in Entebbe led the efforts in building the three-bedroom residential house for the 81-year-old Kakindi in Entebbe. Lt Col James Burabyo, the defence attaché at the Rwanda High Commission in Uganda, handed over the contribution made by RDF. “I thank you on behalf of the Rwanda High Commissioner to Uganda for this initiative and genuine recognition of the selfless efforts of Mama Kankindi,” said Burabyo, adding that this was a sign of the dignity that Rwandans deserve. He commended Mama Kankindi for the dignity she exemplified and the legacy for the young ones to take on. On her part, Kakindi was overjoyed, saying; “I’m happy that the work we fought for has materialised. The young generation should pick it up from there and do much more.” Colette Mukandoli, the vice chairperson of the Rwandan community in Entebbe was delighted by the helping hand extended by RDF and called on Rwandans across the world to embrace the spirit of patriotism to serve above self. This is not the first time that the RDF has engaged in such activities. During the army week, RDF engaged in several national development (Kwibohoza) activities that included the inauguration of a health post, six classrooms at Gishambashayo Primary School, construction of a modern market, supply of electricity and water to Gishambashayo School and Rubaya Health Centre in Rubaya, Gicumbi District, among others.
