The director of sports at the national university of Rwanda Albert Kayiranga has told Times Sport that the institution aims to become a dominant force in Rwanda’s annual sporting calendar. He disclosed this shortly after his return from Thailand saying that the university has potential sports girls and boys who can compete at the top level in Rwanda. “We want to improve our performances in various sports disciplines in future. This will enables us get more exposure to our players and we shall be able to win many international trophies,” he said. According to Kayiranga, the 25-man delegation that represented UNR in various sports disciplines that includes athletics did not return with silver wares but managed to score average points. Kayiranga says the university leadership is committed to sports improvement in the institution which bodes well with the university’s recent sports excellence. Last year, UNR won over 23 trophies from various competitions (volleyball, basketball, handball and karate) and they want to increase on their stock for honours. Ends
