When looking for the most fashionable head turners in the corporate spheres in Rwanda, Allen Karungi Gatete, Head of Corporate Communications at SONARWA, will definitely be one of them. The soft spoken Karungi speaks to Doreen Umutesi about looking fashionable but casual in the corporate world. How would you describe your dress sense? This normally depends on the function or event but I always make sure I’m smart, simple and classy. I love dressing up in casual clothes. You can be casual but smart. What’s your favourite clothing item?I love dressing up in a skirt and a nice blouse or shirt and at times, dresses. I will confess, I don’t like trousers but when it gets very cold, I’m forced to wear them. Where do you shop for clothes?I don’t have any specific place.  I buy my clothes or jewelry anywhere. If I see something I like I usually go for it.What do you consider when shopping for clothes?I love Complementary Garments. The first thing I consider when buying clothes is how I will appear in the outfit but above all I must feel comfortable in it. The uniqueness of an outfit is something I consider while shopping and of course the price tag.  What is your favourite fashion accessory?A nice pair of earrings and necklace will do the trick for me though of course even shoes. I like blending my outfit with nice shoes and a bag.  What is your favourite clothing item on a guy?I like a guy in a suit. What’s your favourite scent?I don’t like very strong scents but my favourite perfume is Manifesto by Yves St Laurent.Any fashion advice?First of all, it’s important for one to appreciate their body shape. It’s also good to be open-minded but you must consider comfort above all.   You can also decide to be creative, stylish, and unique so as to individualise your look. There are a lot of followers, but a few unique people create their own fashion.
