Defending champions Espoir continued to dominate the national basketball league after beating former league APR 56-40 on Friday evening at Amahoro indoor stadium court.

The win maintained Espoir’s unbeaten streak in the league since the start of last season and moved them closer to retaining the regular season title and a place in the playoff as the top seeded team.

Jean Bahufite’s team now have 21 points, one ahead of second-placed Kigali Basketball Club (KBC) with four games remaining.

Three teams including Espoir, former league winner KBC and third-placed Rusizi still have a good chance to win the league title. The champions return to action on Sunday against United Generation Basketball at Amahoro indoor stadium.

On Saturday, KBC picked up two free points after bottom side 30-Plus failed to turn up on the ground for their game at Amahoro indoor stadium.

In today’s other game, Rusizi, who are four points behind Espoir and three points adrift of KBC, host Circle Sportif de Kigali in Rusizi, while APR will play against 30-Plus at Amahoro.

Espoir, KBC, Rusizi and APR are the four teams favored to contest the Playoffs.
